This is my first attempt at designing and 3D-printing a building for my model railway layout. It was a learning process! I have broken the video up in the following chapters:
00:00 Intro
00:20 Designing
01:10 Printing
02:45 Painting
05:12 Detailing
07:44 Finished model
08:44 Outro
A farm-worker or agricultural worker is someone employed for labour in agriculture. Traditionally, most farm-workers in 1950’s Denmark would work on mid-sized to large farms and have a small room of their own in the main building or the stables made available as part of the employment contract. However, on very large farms and manor houses there were so many workers that separate houses for employees were common. Decent accommodation for farm-workers was a hot social issue between 1850-1950 so newer and better housing had to be provided. This particular house is from 1941 and belonged to an estate on Southern Zealand, South of Copenhagen. Actually, two identical houses were built in close proximity. By modern standards, the houses were very modest, but they were still a step up compared to older traditional farm-workers’ houses.
The model is my first own design and 3D-printed building, so mistakes were made. Especially it turned out to be rather difficult to make the brick walls look good. Instead I tried to cover the walls with plaster, and even more mistakes were made! Even the paint job turned out to be complicated. Finally, I finished the model using a number of more traditional model building methods for the details, but perhaps that was cheating a little?
