Darrel Higham did this cover of Crazy Crazy Lovin'. The original by Johnny Carroll which can also be found here on YouTube is a little faster but man, Darrel really knocked it out of the park with his version. I've been listening to Darrel Higham so much lately. There's a good playlist on YouTube Music, and I really wanted to do something more his style with this guitar lesson.

Now, I didn't play his guitar solo in this. I'm still going to have to figure that out, but to fill the void in the song I wrote my own solo. I tried to put in some signature guitar moves that he usually does. Take, for example, the part towards the end that is played over the B and A chords, the fast rakes with guitar licks attached. Darrel does those all the time! He really has a unique style which is an amalgamation of all of the great players that came before him, combined with his own style. He stands out to me so much as his own guitar player. It's easy to hear a song and pick him out on guitar and know that it's him. I could identify his playing any time!

All audio is just being picked up from the microphone on my cell phone (primitive but it works!)

Backing track (Darrel Higham recording) is being played from my Chromebook on YouTube through Bluetooth on a "Mega Bass v3 job site speaker that I got on clearance at Home Depot for $7.50

this setup has worked for me for years, but I will actually be making the leap to real recording equipment in the very near future. I'm looking at the Focusrite DAW and real microphones like the Shure SM57 and a speaking podcast microphone that I forget the name of. Also looking into real cameras like Kodak and Canon.
