This is a review of the Legendary Kameralna Restaurant (Restauracja Kameralna) in Warsaw. It is located on the Ulica Mikołaja Kopernika, just around the corner from the Frederyk Chopin Museum. This restaurant has been around for over 70 years, serving traditional Polish Cuisine. There is plenty of seating indoors and outdoors. Since it was a bright and sunny day, I decided to sit outside.
There is a wide variety of food on the menu. They serve beef and salmon tartar for 32 and 36 złoty respectively, and pierogis for around 24/25 złoty. Appetisers cost between 14 (for the herring in oil) and 36 złoty (for the cold roast beef). The restaurant offers 4 types of soup ranging from 12 to 15 złoty. Salads and pasta are available for prices ranging from 26 to 35 złoty.
There are loads of meaty main courses to choose from, the cheapest being the old Polish pork on the bone for 30 złoty and the most expensive being the wild boar loin for 99 złoty. Knowing the portion sizes in Poland, I decided to only order a main course of pork knuckle stewed in beer for 42 złoty.
The pork knuckle was served with baked potatoes, fried cabbage, horseradish and wholegrain mustard. The pork was nice and tender and had an obvious hint of beer in the taste. It really was an effort to finish, and so was well worth the money. It was quite a hot day, so I chilled out with a large glass of Komoran Cherry in Beer (Wisnia w Piwie), which costs 15 złoty. It is a dark red beer which literally tasted bittersweet!
Overall, I will highly recommend visiting this restaurant every time you go to Warsaw. The food is a great value for money, and the restaurant is in a very convenient location.
