This Northwest 41 had not run in many years. New owner got it running, it digs, but needs work on travel. Like many of the machines at Brownsville, it is a work in progress.
Here it is grading the setting to allow moving up. This was a common operation with shovels. Bennett Shovel has video of the Silver Spade doing the same thing, on a slightly larger scale.
Note that this 41 has a much simpler version of Crowd Assist than the 6 shown previously It may be that the single stick instead of the twin sticks on the 6 allowed the simplification.
Unmistakably a Murphy Diesel.
Historically, Northwest Engineering has been inconsistent about the spelling. Earlier machines had "NORTH*WEST" on the counterweight.
