Dr. Padma Sugavanam is an A-graded (Prasar Bharati) Carnatic vocalist, and also an academician, holding a PhD in Sanskrit and Music from the Madras University. She has performed in most major sabhas in India, and has also done six international concert tours. Padma was awarded the Most Outstanding Vocalist award in her category in 2014, at the prestigious Madras Music Academy. She is also a Gold-medalist in her Masters degree in Music.
This rendition is from Padma's recital for Maha Vidya Fine Arts and the Indian Cultural Centre in Malaysia in 2016. Sri Koteeswara Iyer has composed beautiful compositions in all the Mela Kartas, and this particular composition is in the 36th Mela Karta, Raga Chalanata.
