The United Kingdom has recently updated its Travel Alert for Mexico, warning people to avoid visiting ten states.

The Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office recommends abstaining from traveling to Chihuahua, Sinaloa, Zacatecas, Tamaulipas, Colima, Guerrero, and Michoacán. If a visit is necessary, they urge caution while in the main cities, like Ciudad Juárez, Creel, Los Mochis, Mazatlán, Nuevo Laredo, Manzanillo, Acapulco, Zihuatanejo, Taxco, Morelia, and Pátzcuaro.

Regarding Baja California state, it is only suggested to visit Tijuana and Tecate, as well as Guanajuato and Jalisco, with the exception of Northern municipalities.

The UK authorities stress that foreigners might face security risks when visiting Mexico.
