Hi, I'm Rocky Nash, an Executive Digital Live Producer in Las Vegas. I started my career in Content Creation as a Commercial Photographer, Graphic Designer, Art Director and Editor before getting into Media. Yes, I love all stages of the content lifecycle because I'm a storyteller.

Yes, I love the latest tech like the next nerd, but don't let it slow down your creative process.

I didn't grow up with a lot and had to make due with what I had. I wrote with a pencil and paper, got a phone years after my friends had one and bought my first computer after graduating from community college. Thank goodness for friends and the library with free WiFi.

With technology comes convenience and time saved, if you don't let social media distract you. I created video content with my cell phone for more than 5 years when I was a travel blogger. That is when I got my first brand sponsor too. It wasn't until I started live-streaming on my desktop computer that I decided to get a digital camera.

Why am I telling you all this? Because if you don't start, you won't make progress. If you don't make progress you will give up before you get good at it. Everything takes time. You need to test going live and creating videos regularly to see if you will even want to do it long term. Once you've ironed out the wrinkles and refined your workflow, then its time to upgrade your gear and invest in your growth. Hire a mentor, buy a new laptop. Don't do any of that though until you go live and learn. Follow your peers for inspiration, take a course, but keep your own style.

Remember, you can listen to all the experts and watch a hundred YouTube videos, but you only really learn by doing. Just because someone does something one way and it works for them, doesn't mean it will for you. You have to try it yourself to learn what works best for you.

I was going live when top creators were saying it was too raw and unprofessional looking. I've never been much of a follower so I started going live even more, until it became second-nature to me, and I was more comfortable live than practicing and reading a script. Years later, the same creators have courses on "why you should go live." We all have a right to change and evolve with time, but my point is to not let others discourage you when you feel strongly about your creative path.
