Описание: Liverpool Anglican Cathedral, Britain's largest cathedral, took 74 years of continuous construction to complete. Designed by 22-year-old Giles Gilbert Scott, every sandstone block was hand-carved and lifted by steam crane, then diesel crane, then finally electric crane across three generations of workers. Two world wars, the Great Depression, and the sheer ambition of Gothic Revival architecture meant that those who laid the foundation stones never saw the finished building.
