Why are Indigo flights suddenly getting cancelled?

In the last two days, more than 300 Indigo flights have been cancelled. The main reason is a government rule called Flight Duty Time Limitations (FDTL). These rules were introduced in January 2024 to ensure pilots and flight crew get enough rest for safe flight operations, and their strict implementation began in November 2025.
Under these rules, pilots and crew must now get 48 hours of weekly rest instead of 36 hours. Pilots can now do only 2 night landings instead of 6. The night-time window has also been changed from 12 am–5 am to 12 am–6 am, which further limits how many hours pilots can fly at night.
Because these rules are now enforced, Indigo does not have enough pilots and crew to operate its usual 2200+ flights per day. DGCA has asked Indigo for an explanation and a plan to resolve the issue.
If you have an upcoming Indigo flight, check your flight status in advance. Share this information with someone who is travelling and follow for more simplified public policy updates.
