Sun Temple has been build in 13th century temple and devoted to Lord Surya, Sun Temple at Konark exhibits the splendor of ancient Orian architecture at its pinnacle. Constructed in the year 1250 AD, in the sovereignty of King Narasimhadeva-I, Konark temple portrays the diverse appearance of Hindu architecture. It is also known as the 'Black Pagoda' because of its black color. The remains of this temple were discovered in late 19th century. The structure of the temple is in the form of a chariot, which is driven by seven horses. The beautifully carved wheels of the chariot make the temple look even more charming and captivating. It is supposed that the wheels symbolize the hours of the day, a world heritage site, the temple’s huge size and astounding stonework, executed with masterly touch exemplifying different themes arrest the attention of the viewers.
