Описание: The Battle of Maastricht took place on the 10th of May 1940, as one of the first battles taking place as part of the German invasion of the low countries and France.

The German plan called for the 4th Panzer Division to capture the town before Dutch forces had chance to destroy the bridges over the Maas river. With the bridges still intact, German forces would be able to move towards central Belgium, as well as support the German raid on the Belgian Fort Eben-Emael.

2de Compagnie Fuseliers is tasked with holding the town of Maastricht for as long as possible in order to prevent a German crossing of the Maas River. In order to maintain control over the town, Company HQ have selected four strongpoints to defend.

Sector Anton is the location of an anti aircraft battery
Sector Bernard has a commanding view over the main road approaching the town
Sector Cornelis covers the town from any flanking attacks and keeps the westward route out of the town open
Sector Dirk is the Company Headquarters and must be held at all costs

Communications with Regimental HQ have been down all morning so the state of neighbouring sectors is unknown, expect new orders to be issued within a couple of hours.

12:00 Hours, Maastricht, Kingdom of the Netherlands, 10th May, 1940 - With reports of German forces crossing into the Zuid-Limburg operational zone, the Dutch 37th Infantry Regiment will have to stand and fight in the town of Maastricht to prevent a German crossing of the Maas river.
