What is Depleted Uranium?

Описание: Depleted Uranium is used as a high-speed penetrator against armored vehicles - essentially a very fast moving dart. Technically, DU is safe unless ingested because its radioactivity is not as great as even naturally occurring uranium.

Russia uses DU in its 125mm BM46 Svinets-1 penetrators:

There has been speculation as to the long term heath effects of DU, but more research needs to be conducted. It is generally not advisable to breath in any DU or any other heavy metal.
