India has unique edge in AI with strong tech base and talent pool: Cognizant’s Chief AI Officer

Описание: PTI Exclusive: India is uniquely positioned to lead in artificial intelligence (AI) due to its strong technological foundation and a large pool of digitally skilled talent, according to Cognizant’s Chief AI Officer Babak Hodjat.

Speaking to PTI, Hodjat said India’s deep understanding of systems, processes, and applications gives it a head start in AI adoption and innovation. He highlighted that while AI is increasingly generating code, developers will remain crucial for building systems and evaluating AI outputs.

“A coder using AI will be far ahead of a non-coder,” he said, stressing that technical expertise will continue to be valuable even as AI tools evolve.

He also pointed to India’s growing focus on AI, citing initiatives like the India AI Impact Summit in New Delhi as a sign of the country’s commitment to the sector.

Cognizant, he added, is positioning itself as an “AI builder” company, embedding AI technologies like multi-agent systems and context engineering while also upskilling employees to adopt an AI-first approach.
