I own a 1999 Coleman Powremate Generator. it is a great unit, but with a 10HP Briggs engine, it can be tiring to start it. I therefore am installing a 12 volt electric starter so that I don't have to pull out my aging back. I can use any 12 volt source to start the generator.
There is no ringgear made for this model engine, so I bought something close and then put it on my lathe to machine it to size. Any machine shop can perform this machining operation, it is pretty basic as you will see.
This video is not a staged video, it is not rehearsed. Other than the lathe, you can do this with basic tools.

The flywheel I used is part number 696538
The starter motor I used is part number 497595
