👉Transportation in plants
Every organism is in need of water and food for their survival. Transportation is a process of transporting water, minerals and food to all aprts of plant body.
Although not as efficient as of humans, plants do have a transport system to move things around.
Xylem moves water and solutes (minerals) from the roots to the leaves in a process known as transpiration.
Phloem moves food which is made up by photosynthesis in the form of glucose and stored in the form of sucrose and amino acids from the leaves all around the plant in a process known as translocation.
Xylem and phloem are arranged in groups called vascular bundles. Xylem are made up of dead cells while phloem are made up of living cells.
