As part of the ongoing, workshop series “Methods and Mediums in Human Rights Research,” the Centre for Human Rights Research hosted “Spreading the Word: Statements, Interviews, and Oral Histories" on Monday on January 17th, 2022 from 12noon - 1:30pm.
The presenters all shared their own experiences, techniques, and challenges with different kinds of verbal based data gathering/creating, interacting with each other and the moderator, Dr. Chantal Fiola, Distinguished Indigenous Chair at the University of Winnipeg.
Presenters include:
Kaila Johnston (National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation) – statement gathering
Misha Falk (Transgender Oral History Project) – oral history
Shayna Plaut, PhD (Global Reporting Centre/Centre for Human Rights Research) - semi structured interviewing
