This DJI Mavic 3 drone flight captures cinematic aerial footage and aerial photography of the Interbay Roundhouse in Seattle, a historic railroad locomotive servicing facility built in 1929 by the Great Northern Railway. Designed around a central turntable and service stalls, the roundhouse supported steam and diesel operations through the Burlington Northern and later BNSF Railway eras before heavy maintenance ended in the early 2020s.

This aerial photography was filmed on February 2 during a rare ‘sunbreak’, the flight ranges from approximately 4 feet to 400 feet AGL, combining low-altitude tracking shots along active rail lines with high, straight-down aerial views of the former roundhouse and turntable footprint. Smooth lateral passes highlight the geometry of the rail yard, while higher elevations place the site in context between Magnolia, Queen Anne, and Seattle’s north rail corridor. The video balances precision drone flying with a detailed description of a disappearing piece of Pacific Northwest railroad infrastructure.
