Today I’m answering a question I get all the time — how do I skim over floating beads and door frames without the skim bulging out or looking heavy?
In this video I take you on site and show exactly how I cut back sand & cement render to make the perfect space for a clean skim coat.
I break down several different ways to cut back the render depending on the situation:
• Floating beads that have been rendered tight
• Door frames where the render has crept too far
• Corners and edges that need a clean reveal
• How much to remove, and why
• What tools I use and when
If you’ve ever struggled with beads sitting proud, skim coats looking too fat, or frames that don’t finish clean, this video will sort it.
No hacks — just proper trade technique explained in detail.
