그곳이 바로 두무진(頭武津) 이다.

장군들이 머리를 맞대고 회의하는 듯 우뚝 선 바위들,
그 이름처럼 장엄하고, 그 자태는 한 폭의 수묵화 같다.
십억 년 전의 모래가 돌이 되고,
세월의 칼끝에 다듬어진 규암들이 오늘의 절경으로 남았다.

코끼리바위, 장군바위, 신선대, 선대암, 형제바위…
자연이 직접 새긴 이름 없는 예술품들.
그래서 사람들은 이곳을 ‘서해의 해금강’이라 부른다.

두무진을 만나는 방법은 두 가지.
하나는 유람선을 타고 바다 위에서 바라보는 길.
그날, 점박이물범은 만나지 못했지만
검은 날개로 바람을 가르던 쇠가마우지들이 그 빈자리를 채워주었다.

또 하나는 바닷길을 따라 걷는 트레킹.
발아래 자갈이 부서지고, 파도의 숨결이 귓가에 닿는다.
선대암까지 이어지는 길, 약 스무 분 남짓.
그 짧은 여정에 두무진의 영혼이 담겨 있다.

오후 2시, 빛은 바위를 감싸고
하늘은 깊은 청색으로 내려앉는다.
카메라 셔터마다 작품이 된다.
4시 유람선을 타기 전, 나는 서둘러도 행복했다.

바다 위에서 바라본 두무진은 또 다른 세상이었다.
그 파노라마의 장엄함은 울릉도의 해안보다도 더 놀라웠다.
이곳을 오지 않았다면 평생 후회했을 것이다.

자연이 수천만 년에 걸쳐 써 내려간 시,
그 앞에 선 인간은 그저 한 줄의 여백일 뿐이다.

At the edge of Baengnyeong Island,
where wind and waves have sculpted time itself,
stands Dumujin, the fortress of stone.

Rocks rise like generals gathered in counsel —
majestic, silent, eternal.
Once sand from a billion years ago,
now quartzite carved by centuries of sea and air.

Elephant Rock, General Rock, Sinsundae, Sondaeam, Brothers Rock —
each a masterpiece shaped by nature’s patient hands.
No wonder they call it “the Diamond Sea Cliff of the West.”

You can meet Dumujin in two ways:
by boat, cutting through sea breeze and salt spray,
or by trekking, tracing the coastline where waves breathe and stones whisper.

I missed the spotted seals that day,
but the black cormorants filled the sky like ink strokes across the horizon.

Around 2 p.m., the sunlight turns golden,
the sea glows turquoise, and the sky becomes a painting.
Each click of the camera feels like capturing eternity.

From the boat, Dumujin unfolds in a grand panorama —
so breathtaking, even the cliffs of Ulleungdo seem humbled.
Had I not come here, I would have regretted it for a lifetime.

This is nature’s poem, written over millions of years.
Standing before it, I realize how small we truly are.
