Today I show you how to make the butterfly Nigerian snack which we call Hikima. No animal cruelty here! I posted this on Instagram last week when mum was making it for Eid day and a few of you asked for the recipe so mum was kind enough to show you (and me) how to make it because I have never made this before either.
It is not always a butterfly shape by the way, you can get different shapes. My mum has a star shape but she just prefers to use the butterfly one because it’s the pretties.
Ingredients
1 Heaped cup if plain flour
180ml water (add in a bit at a time as you don’t want the mixture to be too watery)
a pinch of salt
Vegetable oil to deep fry the hokum in
Syrup for the decoration
Desiccated coconut for the decoration
