My E36 318i 1993 model has rocker panel (which is solid side skirts that are connected to the chassis and unable to disconnect).
I didn't want to drill tons of holes into the chassis so I used SILICON SEALANT (plastic and metal compatible ones) to glue on the skirts.
It's been about 2 weeks since I put the side skirts on and they're still nice and solid.
There might be easier and better ways but this is an option for you if you don't want to drill the chassis too much.
