5 tips to make the most of your 5-9 after a demanding 9-5 (the gentle way)

If you know me, you know I juggle a lot - a consulting job, dance and YouTube - but I also care loads about recharging, managing your energy and work-life balance. So in my mind, an intentional evening of rest is productive. But the hours of revenge procrastination that end up leaving you more tired while also not achieving anything is the thing that I’ve been trying to battle for a while. I’m far from perfect and slip up sometimes but these 5 things have generally helped me get better at not wasting my evenings after work as much.
1. Finishing your workday by offloading any open tabs and to-dos in your brain into notes
2. Aim to limit evening plans to one big thing a day max
3. Stacking things that require you to be out/ travel (for example, work from office day and evening dance training in the studio)
4. Allow yourself occasional write off days. If things are not happening, sometimes the most productive thing to do is guilt-free rest (and then trying again tomorrow).
5. Scheduling unstructured indulgent rest at least once a week. Giving yourself a free evening or full day on the weekend to just do whatever you want without the need to be productive with your time.
