📌 Archer (Solo) | Grim Ogre Attack Pattern Analysis
At first glance, the Grim Ogre may look large and slow, but in actual combat it is a highly dangerous enemy that mixes very short wind-up animations with powerful single-hit attacks.
When fighting it as an Archer, the key is to understand its attack patterns precisely and focus on distance control and positioning.
The Grim Ogre mainly uses the following three attacks:
• Arm Swing (wild arm flailing)
• Dropkick
• Jump Attack
(Additional patterns may appear depending on the situation.)
⸻
⚠️ Dropkick: Highest-Priority Threat
The dropkick is the attack you must watch out for the most.
Its tell—the brief crouching motion before the kick—is extremely short, making it hard to react to.
Getting hit results in an instant knockdown, often leading to dangerous follow-up attacks.
While watching the Ogre’s movement,
the safest response is to immediately slide away the moment you see the crouching motion.
⸻
🟢 Jump Attack: Relatively Easy to Handle
The jump attack is relatively slow compared to other patterns.
Once you see the Ogre begin the jump animation,
you don’t need to retreat far—a small positional adjustment is usually enough to evade it safely.
⸻
⚔️ Close-Range Response: Slide Behind the Enemy
When the Ogre closes in on the player,
it will usually attempt an arm swing or a grab attack.
Instead of retreating straight backward,
sliding lightly behind the Ogre allows you to avoid most attacks safely.
Since its attack hitboxes are focused toward the front, repositioning behind it gives you room to set up your next action.
⸻
💥 Using the Partial Knockdown State: Forcing a Full Knockdown
When the Grim Ogre enters a partial knockdown state and remains crouched,
this is the key timing to force a full knockdown.
By following up with attacks that have high Knockdown Power,
you can reliably transition into a full knockdown.
Typical examples include:
• The Archer’s Leaping Punt(Dropkick)
• Exploding Shot / Erupting Shot
Rather than letting the partial knockdown state pass,
it’s important to capitalize on it with strong knockdown-focused attacks.
⸻
🎯 Core Combat Strategy
Overall, Grim Ogre fights reward patient play—avoiding greed and dealing with one pattern at a time.
As a highly mobile class, the Archer should avoid overcommitting to attacks and instead repeat a cycle of:
Hit → Confirm the pattern → Reposition → Hit again
In other words, a consistent Hit-and-Run playstyle is the safest and most stable approach.
