EPIC steam! TWO USATC S160 Steam Locomotives charge up the Ipstones Branch, Churnet Valley Railway

Описание: Footage from the Churnet Valley Railway Steam Gala 2024 of two steam locomotives double heading a heavy seven carriage train, up the notoriously challenging Ipstone's gradient in spectacular fashion, from Leekbrook Junction. I’d recommend turning the volume up for this one :)

The locomotives at the head of the train are a pair of wartime US built S160 locomotives that were shipped over to Europe for help with the war effort and post-war reconstruction in Europe. The locomotives are 6046 and 5197 and are part of the Churnet Valley's home fleet.

I really would recommend a visit- it's one of the few places where you can see steam locomotives genuinely working hard, it's in a beautiful location and their catering department is also excellent, so it is a great day out:
