I left Yamada Onsen and headed to Jigokudani Yaen-Koen to see the famous snow monkeys 🐒❄️
It’s about a 50-minute drive, then a 30–40 minute walk through the forest (very icy in winter, so wear good shoes!).
This had been on my Japan wishlist for so long and finally seeing them in the snow felt so special. I didn’t catch them bathing this time, but just being there was still incredible.
🎟️ There is a small entrance fee to visit the park ¥800.
♨️ There’s also a nearby onsen where you can bathe too, which I wish I’d planned time for.
