It's January and that means it's back on the work/school grind! While not exactly exam season, I thought this would be a fitting "back to school" theme for the start of my 2026 covers. One of the perks of me teaching at a school is being able to use the facilities to film some very fitting shots for this video. My cameraman Richlee came in clutch and we were able to get all of the footage done in just a single day! The scariest part had to have been filming video before recording any audio for the arrangement (which I almost never do, nor recommend lol), relying heavily on the sheet music and a midi mockup to organize all the intricate parts. When I heard this song in the game, it really took me back to my Persona 5 playthrough and the funky exam music that plays in that game as well. I immediately wanted to cover this song, but sat on the arrangement for a while not knowing exactly how I wanted to expand the short one minute loop. After coming up with the breakdowns and solo sections, I left plenty of room for some of my favorite collaborators and they did their THING on it!! I was fortunate enough to catch Steven on the grind while in grad school, to get his parts filmed in a proper classroom as well, and man did it really tie the rest of the video together! I hope this brings the catJAM vibes when studying and taking tests in school, or at least, wishing you could vibe to this groovy track when in class. I also have to say this ties a really nice bow on my Persona 3 covers (for now), and the last song to go on my EP, titled "Before the Dark Hour". I am thrilled to share this video for my first cover of 2026!
