No.51 ‘Thinking Of You’ by Joesef.

Joesef is a Scottish singer/songwriter and I really enjoy his soulful music. It’s a gold mine of catchy hooks, great basslines and mellow instrumentation. “Thinking Of You" is a very special song because it was also written by Bernard Edwards and Nile Rogers. 🤯 No wonder it has some Chic vibes to it. I love the blend of Joesef's modern mellow attitude and the legendary Chic funk of the 70s. The bass line mainly uses octaves, follows the chord progression and adds a few little lines here and there. I added some little embellishments myself to spice it up a bit. 😉✌️

The bass sound on the track definitely has some subtle effects on it. It sounds like some kind of filter/chorus/phaser to me. To capture the vibe of this sound, I tried my "Phunk Phaser" preset on the HX stomp that I made earlier for a Cory Wong track, and I think it fits great. It just adds a little funky movement and width to the sound. I updated the preset a bit and changed the handling.
