New Rules for OTT, Digital Content Platforms; Prakash Javadekar Briefs Media On Regulations

Описание: The government has announced new rules to curb misuse of social media platforms, as it mandated firms to appoint grievance officer, disclose the first originator of mischievous information and remove, within 24 hours, content depicting nudity or morphed pictures of women.
Highlighting the regulations for OTT and digital content platforms, Union minister Prakash Javadekar said the government has decided to have a "3-stair" mechanism for OTT platforms.
The minister added that there should be a grievance redressal system for OTT and digital content platforms and added that they will have to have a self-regulating body, headed by a retired Supreme Court or high court judge, or a very eminent person in this category.
