On “My Car Story” we're in the West Suburbs of Chicago, IL on 7-14-25.
We're looking at a 1973 Pontiac Grand Am in Florentine Red Paint. The car comes with the 455 CI V8 and an automatic transmission.
The car's Owner is Elliot Ek. Elliot’s Dad Alan ordered this car new in 1973. Elliot shares his Dad was an Accountant, however when he wasn’t working, he liked racing cars. He had a Chevelle SS 396 before this, but in 1973 he decided to order a luxury car with power too, so he made sure to check the box to add the 455 CI V8 for the power. Interestingly, when you ordered the 455 CI V8 you could only get an automatic transmission, where if you had the 400 CI V8 you could get a 4 Speed manual transmission. This car has just over 50,000 original miles and drives in wonderful comfort. The horn does not sound very “American”. Elliot shares the car designers wanted the horn to have a European sound.
