P-traps have to be installed on a suction system, so a p-trap was added. Air was coming in from the outside and creating a “dam” which was preventing the condensation from going out of the A/C, and so it was overflowing. Also, at the point of the dam, it was building up yeast and that yeast ended up coating the coil. The pea trap he installed prevents air from sucking in through the pipe from the outside. The P-trap has two vents. One is an uncapped vent to prevent siphoning of the p-trap (if there was a lot of liquid coming through, it would suck the p-trap dry). You want water in the p-trap at all times. There is a capped vent to allow for cleaning of the pipe.
