The Road To Nowhere self drive 4x4 Safari Namibia 2020 [Pomona]

Описание: Unwittingly we had no idea that Covid 19 was coming our way so we headed out on our las t great adventure in Feb 2020 just before Lock down and borders closing to Namibia. The idea was to high tail it to Swakopmund and pickle our down south to Pomona which was the the staging post for the first battle in WW I . Not many people know this. Later it became the most profitable alluvial diamond mine in history. An interesting story as the original mines were looking for copper and found nothing.

Our journey was peppered with German Schutztruppe colonial history. We saw the ruins of British concentration camps build to imprison Germans in Aus. We saw the desert horses of the Namib
There are forgotten places to see in this world and Pomona is one of them. On this occasion access to Pomona was restricted to certain tour operators with concessions. It was a fascinating place that history has forgotten. It was literally the Road to Nowhere.
On this trip I heard unofficially that Namian Parks Board want to open the Sperrgebiet (Forbidden Zone ) to tourism and adventure seekers.
