Billy Strayhorn changed American music forever, layering sophistication and color into the already bountiful world of Jazz, and writing compositions while other musicians were penning "Tunes". This is a favorite Strayhorn composition of mine, called Lotus Blossom. An infrequently performed jazz waltz, this piece might be the most beautiful music I've ever heard. Naturally I HAD to write an arrangement for the Low Clarinet Choir TEAM LOW BLOW at Glendale community college, and I'm deeply satisfied with how these fine musicians played. special thanks to Dr. Stefanie Gardner, Team LOW BLOW, Glendale Community College, Peter Toma, the marvelous videographer, and Billy, for writing the sweetest music of the 20th century.
