Hey guys how you doing? My name is Alan
and I'm here with the contractor license
school. And today we're talking about how
to get a c6 cabinet and millwork
contractors license in the state of
California. I love this one, this is the
one I originally got over 25 years ago.
Now I want to talk to you about the
seven easy steps in getting this done.
the first thing is you need the
necessary experience. Basically in
California, you need four years journeyman
level. So if you've been working in this
particular trade or filled for the last
four years, you're ready to go. The
second thing you need to do is you have
to get prepared to pass the state exams.
And we do that here at the contractor
license school, so you can get that done
and or our online program where you can
do from anywhere on your iPad, cell phone,
laptop, computer anywhere in the world.
Basically the third thing is, you need to
take and fill out the application.
Now that application from what I've
heard with contractors can be pretty
daunting, but I want you to know, you
don't have to worry about that. We want
you to focus on getting through our
material and passing our test. We're
gonna help you step-by-step through the
application process. I'm going to double
check to make sure all the I's are dotted
T's are crossed so that there's nothing
that you have to worry about. The fourth
thing is you need to pass the two
state exams the first one is on the law
that's going to deal with business law
management law things like that.
We're going to help you get through so
you can pass that exam. And secondly it's
the trade exam. Now the trade exam in the
cabinetry and millwork trade is going to
be things like demoing cabinets,
installing cabinets, building cabinets,
and spraying them finishing them stuff
like that. Also, you're gonna learn and
need to know information on how to
figure out how to lay bass mold and
kraut crown molding and chair rail and
all that kind of stuff.
But don't worry about that now. We're
gonna give you the necessary material so
that you are going to be able to pass
those state exams. So the fifth thing
you're going to need is, you're going to
need to get it in surety bond. A surety
bond basically is an insurance policy
that protects the client that's working,
that you're working for. Now you get that
done at any insurance company. And the good
news is we are an insurance company. So
we can take care of that for you. Number five, you're going to
do. Number six, and that is you've got to
get a live scan. So that live scan can be
done just about in any UPS store
anywhere in America. We can send you a
link you simply type in your zip code,
it'll show you all the areas in your
location where you can get that done. And
here's the beautiful thing about that,
when you get that live scan done they
automatically send all that paperwork to
the contractors state licensing board so
you don't have to worry about it. That's
great news, right? And then finally
number seven you got to just make it
happen. You know the best
and first step to any success is just
