Dickinson College in Carlisle is going to build a center dedicated to indigenous studies. The Jim Thorpe Center for Futures of Native Peoples is near the site of the former Carlisle Indian Industrial School. The center is named for the legendary athlete and Olympic gold medalist Jim Thorpe, who attended the Carlisle Indian School.
