He also highlighted what he described as strong economic performance in the United States, pointing to falling inflation, rising incomes and record highs in the stock market.
Meanwhile, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio defended Washington’s strikes on Iran, saying the attacks were necessary to counter what the U.S. views as a growing existential threat from Tehran. His remarks came after the United States confirmed that a seventh American service member had died from wounds sustained during Iran’s initial counter-attack.
As the conflict continues to rattle global markets, the White House is also reviewing options to contain energy prices amid concerns over supply disruptions and economic fallout.
