I thought I'd try Synth Riders in the underused and underrated FORCE MODE, using The Final Countdown by Europe map (from synthriderz.com) and then compare it to Beat Saber and PowerBeats VR heart rate. Same track, different app...
PowerBeats is a full-on sweatfest but Synth Riders in Force Mode matches it exactly. I felt it!!!
So in terms of effort and intensity:
PowerBeats VR and Synth Riders tie. Just make sure to drop difficulty in Synth Riders to Normal or Hard so that you have time to power punch those orbs.
Of course, it depends on the track and the mapper, however, Powerbeats just needs access to your music and will auto generate a workout to the beat. No mapper necessary. Choose your fitness poison :-)
