Here is my personal setup for recording high quality, growling exhaust audio on my rides! It costs a little bit of coin to begin with, but the results are well worth it. As long as you remember to switch on both microphones before your ride it's also pretty much set and forget. Battery life is decent also. Any questions, pop them in the comments.
