This video shows the step-by-step process of purifying a solid through crystallization. A 4 gram sample of impure acetanilide (containing both soluble and insoluble impurities) is purified using water as solvent and a hotplate. Techniques include: boiling chips, boiling stick, oiling out, and scratching to initiate crystallization.
