Oli has denied ordering security forces to open fire. Alongside him, former Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak has also been arrested. The arrests come shortly after Balendra Shah was sworn in as Prime Minister on March 27, following a landslide election victory—the first since the uprising. Shah defeated Oli in Jhapa-5, a constituency long held by the four-time former prime minister.
