The Largest Migration in History: Overcrowded Trains in the 1947 India Partition
Due to the abrupt separation of India and Pakistan in the year of 1947, which was referred to as the Indian Partition, extreme migration was witnessed as a result.
Many people lost their homes and had to pack and go. These pictures show the people inside packed trains going through the cut-and-dried pictures of divided territories filled with refugees. The partition, which emerged into a vicious conflict, resulted in more than a million deaths and innumerable displacements.
This photograph captures the chaos and pain of migration experienced by the victims against the backdrop of this event, which was both devastating and historic.
