Brick Lane, in London’s East End, has long been shaped by waves of migration. In the 19th century, it was home to Huguenots, then Irish and Jewish communities, each leaving their mark on the area. After World War II, Bengali migrants—mainly from Sylhet in Bangladesh—began settling here, drawn by work and family ties. Despite facing racism and hardship, they built a strong community.
