The real video ends at the credits, at least testing wise. After that, I'm just having fun. There's no guitar backing track during the solo, so I doubled the track and sent one to each side, fully panned. I moved them slightly out of sync so it would actually sound stereo. There's nowhere to hide those mistakes when it's just the bass and drums behind me, so you can't miss my flubs. Bob What-Evans. It was fun.
The song is the Brannigan version of "Microwave This", which is loosely based on the Seven Tenths song of the same name. The Brannigan version is more complicated and is tuned down to B standard. The OG Seven Tenths version is more straightforward and is (usually) tuned to Eb standard.
I discovered I can overlay images on top of my videos in ClipChamp. So I wrote 14 comments by Hater Tot about my driving in Beam NG Drive. Yes, Scott. The red car is supposed to look like the DeathMobile. I tried to paint flames on it in the Custom Shop, but I couldn't figure out how to do it. You'll have to pretend...
Featuring the late Pat from Brannigan on bass (RIP). That's his track from an alternate, slower version we did later on after the CD this was on got recorded. It was supposed to be a fake live show. But anyway, this is the slightly slower version, which is perfect because this song isn't that easy, and it's been a while since I played the Brannigan version. (The original Seven Tenths version is from 2007 or so, and it's slower, and tuned on Eb standard, as opposed to the Brannigan version on B standard).
As I said before, the video game footage is from Beam NG Drive. Because I suck at it, but the crashes make for more interesting game footage. It was either that or 20XX or Dead Cells again, moe foes!
Ah-ite. Time for some nerd stuff:
Gear used:
Guitar:
a Dean 7-string with a Seymour Duncan Nazgul 7 in the bridge, neck PU is stock
Boss SD-1. Volume MAX. Distortion at 9 o' clock.
Boss Katana Version 1 100W Head. Crunch channel or whatever the 2nd most distorted one is called.
Egnater semi-closed back 1x12 with a couch pillow stuffed into the hole to make it almost a closed back. With a Hellatone-rebadged Celestion V30 16ohm Chinese version inside. Yeah, not the Chad UK 8 ohm type.
Shure SM58. (gasp! Keith's one of THOSE people who use VOCAL mic's on guitars... Tsk, tsk...)
Bass:
I forget what he played on this. Probably just my Ibanez SR305 because it was handy.
Drums:
samples from my ever-growing lifetime collection of drum samples, including kick drum his from one of the Serum 119 demos. The gift that keeps on giving, from Scott (Serum 119 drummer), and Ken (the audio engineer that day).
More rambling:
Okay, so WTF?! Why does this stupid speaker suddenly sound good. The only thing I did different was move the mic out an inch further from the cone. With this cab, I usually put the mic between the 't' and the "e" on the "Egnater" logo. Because V30's are bright, tho, I lined it up with the E. And now this time it sounds great. I must have put it low or something, so it's even further from the cone because it's off center vertically, too. Or maybe it broke in. Or maybe I've finally blown out my hearing badly enough that I can't hear whatever high-mid frequency I didn't like, anymore. Either way, I win. It only took me an entire decade to get a usable sound out of a V30, but I finally did it.
Повторяем попытку...
