I bought these Energy RC-10 speakers a few weeks ago to try out for fun. My first good speakers when I was a kid were from Energy - the ESM-4's. So, I bought these a little out of nostalgia, and to test out the tweeter, as I'd heard good things about it. While I only had these RC-10s for a few weeks, I thought I'd made a short video about them to give potential buyers an idea of what they're like.
Edit Jan 30/2025 Now that I've watched this video again since posting, I've noticed that I said the port was 2" or slightly smaller. I meant to say 2" or slightly LARGER. You can probably hear in my voice that I was a little under the weather when I recorded this video, so my brain was a little more wonky than usual, too.
Also, when I say they have a warm sound, I mean they're laid-back; I don't mean that they're dull. Their treble is not rolled off in order to achieve their laid-back sound; it's their mids that are just laid back. Also, a commenter pointed out that he believes the 91db/w/m rating as per the Energy website is incorrect, and I'm inclined to agree. I think it's more along the lines of 88db/w/m, as originally stated in the video.
Further, I forgot to mention in the video that the grilles HAVE TO be removed in order to get the best out of them. These grilles, although conveniently magnetic, are NOT sonically transparent. Further, the tweeters on these things are actually possibly better than those on many/ most of my other speakers, of which I have quite a few.
