In September we visited Revelstoke for two days of riding. This was our whistle stop tour of the Canadian Rockies featured in issue 164 of Singletrack and aslo in our Destination guides online.
This isn't a spectacular video. It isn't the complete footage either as there were plenty of stops and we were shooting images too. But this edit gives a good idea of the scale of the trail and the type of riding that you need to be comfortable with in order to tackle it.
It's not a technical trail and even novice mountain bikers should be ok rolling it. Speed is what makes it fun for all abilities and there are lots of opportunities for some gentle air. All the jumps are maked with small flags so there's no surprises and none of the jumps have gaps. The risk comes in the time required to get down, which even we underestimated, and the altitude at the start of 7229 feet.
We rode this blind. This was our only run as we were on the clock. Yeah, we know that sounds like excuses, but we had a lot of fun on this super flowy trail.
The bikes were from the resort rental fleet and were Specialized Turbo Levos, which were welcome at the start as despite the uplift via the Revelation Gondola from the base there was a further 6km climb to get the the start of the trail.
We have more information about Revelstoke as well as Rossland, Fernie and Whistler in our online destination guides. http://singletrackworld.com/destinations
