A playthrough of the character Champion/horrific abomination in the arcade version of Tecmo/Team Ninja’s Dead or Alive 1.
One day, the United Nations will probably call for my arrest as a result of the horrific abominations I have unleashed upon the world. But that day ain’t today, so let’s enjoy one of the single most unique playthroughs you’ll ever see.
This game took me a long time to hack. We are talking about a year, maybe a year and a half, (maybe more!) of continuous hacking attempts, here and there. I scoured every last bit of information on the internet about the game I could, and I could not work out what the characters values were.
When I looked at lists of character values for later games however, I noticed something. The first three-character values were always the same. Knowing this, I decided to try hacking using only those and...low and behold, I was able to find the character address. You see, I get the impression that Team Ninja must have been pants-on-head retarded when it came to programming, as most of the character values are in relation to buggy, glitch characters. THAT was why, for ages, I was never able to hack the character address; 03, 04, 05 etc are all nonsensical glitch values.
Seriously, a number of these character values are filled with these ridiculous glitch characters. Why? I have absolutely no clue. It could be they’re related to unused data, and potentially characters who ultimately weren’t finished. Or it could just be shitty programming and they somehow managed to leave a bunch of unused data in their character values, like Wild Card in Tekken 1. Although, in this case, Champion is effectively the Nightman to Wild Card’s Dayman. I don’t know what Champion is Champion of, but it’s definitely not of the sun.
So, this is another AdmiralMcFish™ discovery (from what I can tell, anyway), and of course it’s some kind of Frankenstein’s creation. The sort of abomination which should be shot on sight, like something out of a bad Full Metal Alchemist episode. Champion here is practically invulnerable, which just makes his mere existence that bit more terrifying, and also strengthens the Frankenstein’s monster comparison that much more. Champion tears through opponents, mainly because they can barely hit him to begin with, and so easily fulfils his destiny as, err, the champion, I guess.
I’ve also made a tutorial on how to do this, which I’ll upload to my tutorial channel in the near future, so other people can fuck around with this.
I don’t really know what else to say in regards to this; I find something unused or incomplete and of course it's some kind of abomination. Like, of course this happened to me, of all people. Enjoy this new addition to the channel’s lore, though.
Next up, it’s another weird thing, because DOA1 is the gift which keeps on giving.
