Scorched Earth tells the story of the Navajo and Apache people who were forcibly removed from their homelands and imprisoned at Bosque Redondo in Fort Sumner during the 1860s. Through interviews with descendants, historians, and cultural leaders, the film brings forward voices that have too often been silenced in mainstream history.
Blending archival material, original cinematography, and Native flute compositions, the documentary focuses on the strength, memory, and cultural survival of the people who endured the Long Walk and the harsh conditions of the Bosque. Rather than portraying the story only as tragedy, the film highlights resilience—showing how identity, cultural practice, and community continue to thrive.
