78 | The day after I arrived in Carbondale from Southeast Asia I went for a walk around my hometown of Carbondale, Pennsylvania. It's a small town of about 9000 people thus the differences between it and Kuala Lumpur or Bangkok, for example, are huge.
The main difference is that Carbondale is not really an urban area. I would call it sub-urban bordering on rural. This time of year, unless there is a good amount of snow on the ground, is probably the ugliest time to visit. The trees have lost their leaves and everything looks depressed and colorless. Hopefully before I return to Asia there will be a good snow storm to record.
