Another two Wainwrights bagged but deteriorating weather meant we made the decision to abandon our attempt at a third. We were down from the fells by the time the Met Office issued its amber weather warning…but had to abandon our car in Grasmere!❄🚙 A fairly lengthy video…but it was a fairly lengthy day…! 😅
NB: For those of you who perhaps don’t know us that well - we want to be really clear - we are highly experienced hikers with an extremely good knowledge of the area. We’ve been exploring Cumbria for over 20 years in all sorts of conditions (many worse than this, believe it or not!). The most important thing about being experienced is knowing your limits. We abandoned our route about 3 hours before the amber weather warning was issued which was definitely the right call. We wouldn’t want us sharing videos of our Lake District adventures to encourage anyone without the necessary expertise and equipment to attempt similar.
