As 2021 comes to a close, HLTV.org staff come together to reflect on the top 10 plays of the year.

The staff here at HLTV.org once again put some of the best moments CS:GO had to offer to a vote to bring you the top 10 highlights of the year, with Radosław "⁠MAKKU⁠" Makuch graciously bringing it all together into one highlight reel.

2021 saw the revival of LAN play after a long break due to the coronavirus pandemic, and with it the long-awaited return of what makes LAN Counter-Strike so beautiful: crowds. Some of the highlights reflect the energy and hype a crowd can bring to such moments, reinforcing how important the high-stakes environment of LAN is to our scene.

Mathieu "⁠ZywOo⁠" Herbaut is the only player to make two appearances on the list this year, with Aleksandr "⁠s1mple⁠" Kostyliev and Nikola "⁠NiKo⁠" Kovač being somewhat noticeable absences. Interestingly, the top three spots are all occupied by Danish players, with two of them hailing from Heroic.
