An alternative motorbike route from Napier to Taihape via Pukeokahu.

Описание: This is a great route if you want to add a little adventure to your Napier-Taihape ride.

The Taihape-Napier Road is a great motorcycling road. Scenic, with a mixture of twisty and open sections. But what if you want a bit of gravel along the way? That’s where the Pukeokahu turning comes in. If you are coming from Napier, you can turn left onto Mangaohane Rd along the “alpine plateau” section. This well maintained gravel road takes you through some excellent landscapes that are very different from what you get on the main road. The Gravel roads eventually change into narrow sealed roads and join onto Spooners Hill Road just before Taihape.

I was also trying out a Sony FDR-X3000 action camera. Unfortunately, the angle of the camera wasn’t very good when I was standing up. Even though my eyes were up, the camera was focusing on the road right in front of my bike. This means that there was very little usable footage. It was difficult to find enough to put this video together.

Please let me know of any other trips like this. I’m always keen to explore alternative routes.
